About MSSA/CIDB Open Ideas Competition 2017
The Open Idea Competition 2017 promises a highly challenging project designed in steel. The project, Dome(s) for youth will see more than 10 universities of 30 teams and 150 students competing for the MSSA Challenge trophy and RM28,000.00 in cash prizes. The design will reflect innovation, sustainability, cost effectiveness in the dome-shaped structure that sits on a 5 acre site. The dome will serve as the youths meeting point for events of their interest.
The primary aim of the competition is to provide students of architecture and civil engineering in Malaysia with the unique opportunity to collaborate in a building design that employs steel as the main structural and finishing material. It is for these students to grasthe fact that building design does not lie within the jurisdiction of the architect or civil engineer individually, but it is a means for them to arrive at a meaningful realization of both architectural fascination and structural manifestation. It aims to bridge the gap between the training of architecture and civil engineering.
